It will be a very joyful day for the AIAB monastics and friends to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together. Coming here, you and your family can celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in a peaceful and joyful environment. With lanterns in our hands, we will enjoy our walking meditation under the full moon light around Ngong Ping village, so quiet at night. If you have a lantern of your own that you like to bring here to contribute to the beauty of colors and shapes of the festival, please do not hesitate. If you, your children, as a family can play some music or sing some happy Mid-Autumn’s songs that you wish to offer to the joyful, homely atmosphere of the Festival, we are more than happy to register your act as a performance for the celebration. We give priority to the children’s performances in the spirit of encouraging them and offering our care to their enthusiasm to being so naturally radiant and joyful. After the celebration, you can ride on the arranged bus back to Tung Chung MTR station after the activity.  HK$50 per person (same price for child), or stay overnight. The suggested cost for one night is HK$200. We recommend you to bring your beddings in order for saving the environment. Please go to responsible monastic and pay for the fee when you arrive. The Brothers and Sisters at Plum Village Hong Kong are happy to organize a Day of Mindfulness for Wake Uppers – young friends aged 18-40 on Saturday, 28 September 2024. We are gathering to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness and contribute to building a healthier and more compassionate society by practicing walking meditation, sitting meditation, singing meditation, and listening to the Dharma Talk. We shall also have a chance to be in touch with the nature and the very ancient and spiritual practice venue here in Luk Wu on Lantau Island. Language: Mainly English Meal : Lunch (vegan) included Schedule:  Check-in starts at 9:30am Transportation: Take bus 1, 11, 21, get off at 法華苑 Fat Hwa Yuen, and by 10-min walk. (You need to walk a short distance of slope and stairs to get to the entrance.

Book reading in these two months: Reconciliation: Healing the Inner Child. Friday Night Practice is a “lite” mindful practice in town. Every two weeks there is Friday Night Practice, we have a chance to practice Mindfulness together with others in the community. We can generate a powerful collective energy that can bring healing and transformation in ourselves and the world with the community after a busy week. In Sep and Oct, we will be reading on “Reconciliation: Healing the Inner Child” based on Dharma talks by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and insights from participants in retreats for healing the inner child, this book is a contribution to the growing trend of using Buddhist practices to encourage mental health and wellness. Reconciliation focuses on the theme of mindful awareness of our emotions and healing our relationships, as well as meditations and exercises to acknowledge and transform the hurt that many of us experienced as children. 2024 Mind-body Wellbeing Retreat

The theme of the retreat is Coping with Loneliness. The sangha on a walking meditation in Ngong Ping The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Loneliness belongs to the social well-being aspect of health. Physical, mental and social wellbeing inter-are with each other. Illness in one aspect affect other aspects. Loneliness happens to people of all ages and social groups. It often refers to having no one to talk to, to share, to lean on in times of need. It is also a mental state, as in “feeling lonely”. Loneliness is different from being alone. One can be alone but not feeling lonely, but one living with others (like spouses, siblings, friends) can feel lonely. It seems like there is no one that understand us. Loneliness increases the chance of heart disease and mental disorders like fear, anxiety and depression. Learning how to connect with ourselves, to understand ourselves is a way of coping with loneliness. The famous friendship of Bo Ya (伯牙) and Zhong Ziqi (鍾子期) illustrated how important it is to have bosom friends who understand us (note 1) .We often looking for that bosom friend outside of ourselves, but the dearest friend, the soulmate who understands us is no other than ourselves (知音). Living in the present moment, being aware of our body, feelings, perceptions, mental formations, and consciousness is essential in the process of getting to know ourselves, as taught in the “Discourse of Knowing the Better Way to Live Alone” (note 2) . Knowing ourselves will help us to know others, to connect to others so we can have a healthy social wellbeing.
