Walk with Hong Kong: Online Meditation 2025.11.27-12.03

  •  2025-12-03 20:30 - 21:30
  •  Online Zoom
  •  Free

Dear Friends, The fire at Hung Fook Court has brought much shock and heartache to Hong Kong. Our hearts are also affected, heavy with sorrow, and filled with concern for those suffering, their families, and the firefighters on the front lines. In these unpredictable days, perhaps we need a place where we can sit together, breathe, find peace, and send compassion to Hong Kong. The Sangha will be holding online evening retreats for the next seven days: meditation, chanting, quiet contemplation, and reflection—let us accompany our own hearts and Hong Kong in the gentlest way. This is not an event, but a journey together. You don’t need to prepare anything, just bring your breath and a willing heart. Wherever you are in the world, you can quietly enter this shared space if you wish. May our practice transform into gentle light, blessing the injured, the families who have lost loved ones, the residents still facing the aftermath, and the frontline rescue workers who risked their lives to protect everyone. If your heart is troubled, aching, or heavy today, may these seven nights bring you a moment of peace, and may they also be a source of peace and compassion that we send to Hong Kong together. Breathe and smile. May peace and compassion flow to every corner of Hong Kong. Dates: 1. November 27, 2025 (Thursday) Cantonese 2. November 28, 2025 (Friday) Cantonese 3. Hong Kong Lotus Festival — Sitting Meditation and Walking Meditation

  •  2025-07-01 09:50 - 11:45
  •  Po Lin Temple, Ngong Ping, Lantau Island
  •  Free

This Summer, Asian Institute of Applied Buddhism / Plum Village Hong Kong is very happy to participate in the Lotus Festival organized by Po Lin Monastery to introduce the practices of Sitting Meditation and Walking Meditation. Walking Meditation and Sitting Meditation are important practices in Plum Village. Mindfulness is a kind of energy that we generate when we bring our mind back to our body and get in touch with what is going on in the present moment, within us and around us. We become aware of our breathing and come home to our body, fully present for ourselves and whatever we are doing. In the Plum Village Tradition, we sit just to enjoy sitting. There is nowhere to go and nothing to do. We can just enjoy sitting there, following our breathing, enjoying being alive. When we practice walking meditation, we focus our steps touching on the earth. This will unify our body and mind, walking in freedom and solidity, arriving in the present moment in every step. Our daily life is busy, please give ourself a space to rest. In this Lotus Festival, at the foot of the Big Buddha in Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, accompanied by the noble and elegant lotues, Plum Village monastic will guide friends to practice Sitting Meditation and Walking Meditation, to be in touch with inner peace and joy together.
